Abstract

|
Pseudotumor cerebri syndrome (PTCS) is characterized by signs and symptoms of raised intracranial pressure without intracranial mass lesion, ventriculomegaly, or central nervous system infection or malignancy. Secondary PTCS is associated with cerebral venous abnormalities, medications and toxic exposures, endocrine disorders, respiratory dysfunction, and anemia. Here, we report a rare case of PTCS associated with hemolytic anemia presenting with migrainous headache. The patient¡¯s clinical features improved after improvement of the hemolytic anemia with transfusion and administration of steroid. Migrainous headache can be a presenting symptom of PTCS associated with hemolytic anemia, therefore, appropriate tests should be done if any abnormal findings are observed on physical and neurological examinations, to rule out secondary headache.
